1. This program is called RegCleaner, don't get confused with Regclean by Microsoft.

RegCleaner 4.3

2. Installing : open your downloaded file. If it is zipped, unzip with Good Zip Freeware and open it. Then click next > next.

Get to Drive C > program files > RegCleaner. Open file "RegCleanr.exe". Then check "I accept the disclaimer above" check box.

3. The idea : If you install a program that writes a registry to the system, RegCleaner will show its registry in tab software.

An example, I installed program "CD Tray Control", then I opened the RegCleaner.

RegCleaner 4.3

In the picture above, at tab software, CD Tray Control showed in a Software column and the name of a developer showed in an Author column. The text "New" showed in an Age column.

Then I made a small database to record the data in the picture above. When CD Tray Control is uninstalled, but its registry remains, I will check the item check box in the Software tab and click Remove Selected.

The removed item will show in the Backups tab, I can remove it from my computer at this tab. This is the good way to clean up my computer.

At Backup tab, to restore the removed item, check the check box and click Restore Backup. After the removed item is restored, the name or something that represents that item remains in Backups tab, to remove it, check the check box then click Remove Selected.

4. At the Software tab, if the text "! @#WFDSf"!4e2e2 " shows in the Author column, don't remove this item because it is the copy protection of a bad program.

5. Tab startup list shows the program that runs automatically when your computer starts.

7. Tab Uninstall Menu, you can uninstall the program here.

8. Tab New File shows the list of submenus when you right click and select new.

RegCleaner 4.3

To remove a submenu, check the check box then click Remove Selected and restart the computer.

9. Tab Shell Extensions :
At Program column, see %Systemroot%\Explorer.exe.
At Command column, see Explorer.
At
Extension column, see Folder.

When you right click a folder, one of submenus is Explorer.
If you click menu Explorer, program Explorer.exe will explore what's inside this folder.

To remove any submenu, make sure that program, command and extension are right, then check the check box and click Remove Selected.

10. Tab Backups : In type of backup column shows where an item is removed from.

RegCleaner 4.3

In the picture above, at column Type of Backup.
  • Registry entry type means this item is removed from tab Software
  • Startup menu item type means this item is removed from tab Startup List
  • Newfile type means this item is removed from tab New File.....Done !
