Instruction # 70 - Table

1. Installing : open your downloaded file. If it is zipped, unzip with Good Zip Freeware and open it. Then click accept > install.

2. Click start > all programs > table > OK.

3. Settings : click menu service > parameters.
At tab list view options, the important options are
a. accept web links
b. accept files links

Go to tab additional, the tables directory shows the place to store database files.

At opening table when program starts, select what you want the program to do when the program starts. Your options are
a. ask = the program will show all databases to select
b. do not open = the program won't show all databases to select.
c. remember last = the program will open the last open database.

Click OK.

4. To create the database, click menu file > new > name the table > save. You have a database file that has the extension "CSV".

A new window opens, click OK.

Click menu service > columns.
A new window opens, click menu column > add > name the column > OK.
To rename column1, select column1 then click menu column > rename... > name the column > OK.

To order the columns, select the column and click a down or up arrow.

Close this window when you have finished.

To resize the column, move a mouse pointer over the column separator, a mouse pointer is changed to a two-way arrow.

Click menu service > table properties. The important option is "allow empty records".

5. To record data, press F5.
To edit data, right click a record then click edit.

6. To search data, click tab search and type what you are looking for in the column and press Enter.

7. To export databases : click menu service > export.
A new window opens, at Source, select a tab and select the columns in that tab in the right pane.

Then at File format, let me show you the pattern of each file format.
a. csv [ separator-semicolon ] and csv [ separator-comma] : these file formats can be viewed with a NotePad program. There is no column heads.

I opened a file format "csv [ separator-comma ]" with OpenOffice.org 2.0 Calc, the result showed in the picture below.


b. txt [ formatting by blank ] and txt [ separator - tab] : these file formats can be viewed with a NotePad program.
There is no column heads.

c. HTML : this file format can be viewed with web browser programs. There are column heads and records.

d. ZGS : ZGS is the publisher of the program table pro, but I don't know how to view this file format.

8. To take the databases with you, write file "Table.exe", "Table.ini" and the table files that have the extension "CSV" to a CD.

You can run this program directly from the CD, but you can not edit the data.....Done !
