2. To manage categories, click menu ‘manage’ > ‘categories…’
There are tabs: expense and income.
In the picture below, if you want to add new category in ‘Automobile’.
Select ‘Automobile’, then click a + sign at the bottom.
The text boxes show.
If I type in a box ‘new category’ and press enter.
The text I type will show as a new category not a category in ‘Automobile’
You can easily delete it by clicking a – sign at the bottom.
If I type at the box ‘new subcategory’, the text I type will show in ‘Automobile’ (see the picture above)
To merge category, I selected ‘abc’ then click a button in the picture above
There is a dialog saying “transactions will be moved to the selected category below”
I selected category ‘Bank Charges’, then clicked ‘Merge’.
‘abc’ in ‘Automobile’ was deleted, ‘abc’ was merged to ‘Bank Charges’ in the name of ‘Bank Charges’.
In the picture above expenses 50 usd was merged to category ‘Bank Charges’.
3. To set budget for category, click menu ‘Manage’ > ‘Budget…’.
There are tabs: expense and income.
I set expense budget for cell phone, 200USD each month for one year then check the option ‘Force monitoring this category’.
The word ‘Cell Phone’ is bold.
If you add 500 in expense in category ‘Cell Phone’ , it will show in window ‘Transactions’ and ‘Budget Report.
To open window ‘Transactions’, click menu ‘Transactions’> ‘Show…’
To open report ‘Budget’, click menu ‘Reports’ > ‘Budget…’
It’s good enough for a free app.
