You can listen to Apple Podcasts via Apple website but I think listening via iTunes is a better experiences. iTunes is beautiful, you will be in a convenient place -- menus, images, adjustable window size.
iTunes for Mac died. One website says "It will only install on Macs running macOS 10.13.99 or earlier", but on Windows 11, I can use it for listening to Apple Podcasts.

1. Go to Microsoft Store and install it by clicking a button 'Get'.
The picture above, I was done installing it, a button was changed to 'Open'.
2. Open the app and click 'Go to the iTunes Store'.
Click a button 'Continue'.
Select 'Podcasts' at a drop-down list.
If you see a message 'Item not available in your country", scroll down to the bottom and click 'Country or Region'.
Click 'United States'.
To download some episodes, click a podcast.
Click a button 'Get'.
If you see an icon in the picture below, that means downloading is in a progress.
When it's done, that icon disappears.
Go to the downloaded episode, click 'Library'.
Click 'Unplayed'.
Click 'Continue'.
Play a podcast.
The beautiful interface of iTunes.
'Unplayed' tab
I used a 3 dot icon in tab 'Feed' to subscribe.
There was no problem.
3. On the web, if you scroll down, a podcast cover will disappear.
In iTunes, you can see a podcast cover.
I like iTunes, it shows strong passions of developers to make this app great.
